A gay couple was assaulted by four men in Manhattan, after they left the Indiana Pacers – Knicks game on Sunday, cops said.
27-year-old Nick Porto and his partner, Kevin Atkin, 22, were attacked by Knicks fans as the two were walking arm-in-arm down Eight Avenue, according to DNA Info New York. Porto said, the four men who attacked them shouted slurs at the couple.
“They called us f—-ts,” said Porto, a clothing designer. “They made fun of my jeans — I made the jeans myself, for that day.”
The group of men knocked the pair to the ground and began to violently kick and punch them, DNA Info also reported.
NYPD officials released surveillance photos of a person of interest early Tuesday morning. He is described as in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, with brown hair and a tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen in a white T-shirt, white sneakers, jeans and a Knicks #7 jersey.
Police declined to classify the attack as a hate crime, as the investigation is still ongoing.
