Deputy Shoots Woman in Home after Fake Break In

An Ormond Beach woman who lured deputies to her home after calling 911 to report a break in, wanted to be killed by a cop, clickorlando.com is reporting.

Volusia County investigators said, 61-year-old Patricia Marianetti called a 911 operator just before 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, to report that someone was trying to break into her home.

Deputies encountered Marianetti outside of the front door at her home on Eloise Circle, Ormond Beach, pointing something that appeared to be a weapon at them.  As it turned out, the woman was holding a pressure washer, according to clickorlando.com.

Deputy Omar Bello, one of the deputies, sensing a threat opened fire hitting Marianetti in the shoulder.

Marianetti, who was transported by ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, suffered a non-life threatening injury.

Deputies who are still investigating the incident say, no intruder was found.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also investigating the shooting.  Meanwhile, Deputy Omar Bello has been placed on administrative leave, as is customary.

Authorities also said, Marianetti has had a couple of brushes with law enforcement, including domestic battery.
