A former Merritt Island High School student was arrested Tuesday, charged with threatening to discharge a destructive device and disturbing a school function, Brevard County deputies said.
Alexander C. Clark, 17, of Baker Road, Merritt Island was taken into custody after investigators located him in the Cocoa Beach area.
Deputies say, just before 1:00 p.m., a report of Clark threatening a student at Merritt Island High School via text message was received.
Clark was on his way to the Merritt Island High School with a handgun to shoot two students, based on the message investigators had received.
Deputies immediately initiated a lock down at the school and attempted to locate Clark who was in the Cocoa Beach area.
Clark is being held at the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
