Notwithstanding the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau who was killed by the orca Tilikum three years ago, SeaWorld is currently in mediation talks with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to maintain trainers in contact with the whales during certain “Shamu” show segments, although declared a safety hazard and forbidden by OSHA.
