Dr. Phillips Juniors Alizee Michaud and Sarah Baron continued to dominate their opponents with straight set victories in lines one and two, respectively, to earn individual District Championships. Michaud dispatched her opponent from Ocoee in line one while Baron swept through line two with a victory over Olympia. The two also paired up in line one doubles to capture the District Championship. Michaud automatically advances to the State Tournament, and she’ll join Baron there for doubles as well. As a team, the Panthers tied for first place with Olympia with 17 points and the two teams will meet this afternoon (weather permitting) to determine the outright champion. No matter the outcome, however, both teams will advance to next week’s Regional Tournament.

In Men’s Tennis action, the Panthers placed third overall behind West Orange and Olympia, ending their season with a record of 12-5.

Down the road at John Barbati Field, senior Ryan Larson blasted a solo home run in the fourth inning and then took the mound in the seventh and slammed the door with three strikeouts as Baseball knocked off Trinity Prep, 3-1. Mike Flaherty pitched a phenomenal game, striking out five in six innings of work to earn the win while Larson tied the school record with his sixth save in as many opportunities (shared by Brian Barber and Drew Longenecker). Nic Strasser singled and stole a base, Zac Holbrook went 1 for 1 and Nolan Lang finished 1 for 2 with an RBI. Third-ranked DP (15-3) will travel to Timber Creek Friday before their showdown with Olympia Saturday.

Softball traveled down to St. Cloud and was trailing 5-4 in the fifth inning before weather ended the contest early.
