It is so refreshing to see a local teen who excels academically, also involved in music and art. Joseph Styles, a 17-year-old A/B Honor Student has been drawing since the age of 11 and taking music lessons since the age of 12. Joseph, who started out by drawing and tracing Japanese Anime cartoons is now creating his own animal and anthropomorphic characters. His traditional art materials include pencil, colored pencils, markers, ink, and watercolors/India ink, but he has also become very diverse at digital art using a graphics tablet he received just a few years ago. He already knows he wants a career in art, in the field of animation.
As talented as Joseph is in art, he soars with his piano renditions of gospel classics like “Amazing Grace” to popular songs/theatrical favorites and is now branching out to classical pieces as well. This week Joseph performed with ‘The Green Notes” at a pre-Easter recital for the “Silver Angels” senior citizens’ group at Mt. Pleasant Church in Orlando.
The Green Notes is a group of very talented musicians, ranging in ages from 6-17 years, trained by Gloria Green, owner of Green Notes Studio located in Orlando. This group of focused youngsters perform at local churches and community centers around Orange County.
Joseph also volunteers to assist with training students, ages 6-8 years, once a week. Keep your eyes on this talented young man and expect to hear more from him in the near future.
