Gov. Rick Scott’s administration will close down the office of the lieutenant governor to save money, according to news reports.

Ex-Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll abruptly resigned earlier this month in the wake of an alleged gambling operation through Internet Cafes, led by Allied Veterans of the World.  Carroll once provided public relations services to the group.

With the closure of Carroll’s office, four employees are losing their jobs, according to myfoxorlando.com.

Carroll’s office has an annual budget of $510,000, including nearly $125,000 which she was paid and $100,000 going to John Konkus, her chief of staff.

Scott said earlier he won’t look to find a replacement until after the current legislation session concluded in May.
