DP Water Polo teams hammer West Orange; Men’s Lax shuts out Lake Minneola

Fresh off a solid showing at the St. Andrew’s tournament in Boca Raton, Women’s Water Polo came out firing in the first of a five-game week with a 19-1 blasting of host West Orange. DP (8-5) peppered the Warriors’ goalie with 40 shots and used a stifling defense to record an eye-popping 28 steals. Junior Allie Magrino scored five goals to go with eight steals, senior Heather MacNeil posted three goals and six steals and sophomore Megan Hallson tallied three goals. Sophomores Ricky Price and Jillian Goulden added two goals apiece as did senior Angela Algee. Sophomore Jacqueline James and senior Meredith Canty rounded out the scoring column for DP with a solo goal each. Goaltenders Marissa Goodrum and Jessica Robinson didn’t get much of a workout but combined for six saves on the day. DP will get Tuesday off but head right back into action with four games in three days starting Wednesday at Ocoee at 7:00 pm.

Men’s Water Polo (8-1) jumped out to a 14-2 lead at the half and set the pace to cruise control the rest of the way in a 21-8 victory over West Orange. Senior Reed Davis led all scorers with six goals and three steals and freshman Parker Sellers registered four goals and three steals. Senior Barrett Brinker and junior Ian Suprascored three goals each, junior Eduardo Macias and freshman Sergi Pons added two scores apiece with senior Ian Perkins picking up a solo goal and a team-high three assists and four steals. Junior goaltender Nick Lachinski turned away nine shots in his first-half stint between the pipes. The Panthers will get back in the water Wednesday night at 8:00 at Ocoee.

Men’s Lacrosse made short work of Lake Minneola taking a 10-0 lead into the half and closing out with an 18-0 victory. DP (6-2) exploded offensively with 13 players finding the back of the net. Brett Forward led the Panthers with three goals and three assists, Nick Forward and Ian Decker each scored three and assisted on two, and Doug Essig picked up two goals and an assist. Additional scorers included Mac Baxter, Jake Gillen, Mike Aguilera, Julien Dutes, Alex Norton, Nick Marchetta and Jai Narendrenath. Kevin Hoppey was the defensive standout with 11 ground balls with Edwin Wiley a close second with nine. Junior Nick Connor registered his first career shutout in goal and picked up three saves along the way.

Many outdoor sports events were canceled today (Tuesday, 3/12) due to rain. Please check before attending to make sure your game is still planned.
