All is not well between Valencia College President Sandy Shugart and Bertica Cabrera Morris, Chairwoman of the College’s Board of Trustees.
Things got a bit heated at the February meeting between the two over the timing of a study related to minority women and business owners and whether the college should hire a lobbyist to fundraise in Washington, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Shugart has accused Cabrera Morris, who met with two board members after the February Board meeting, of wanting to micro-manage the College. Cabrera Morris, a minority-owned business woman, pointed out that she is trying to better understand how the school is run and to share that information with the community, the Sentinel reports.
Cabrera-Morris is NOT African American. She is Cuban-American.
