Triumvirate Vows to Fight Swine Flu

President Barack Obama who met with his counterparts, Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, wrapped up a two-day summit earlier today in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The three leaders vowed to fight the spread of swine flu or H1N1, combat climate change, but had divergent views on trade matters.

“H1N1 as we know, will be back this winter,”, Calderon said at a joint news conference.  “We ae getting prepared, all three countries, to face in a responsible manner this contingency and abate its impacts for our people.”, he said.

A joint statement from the leaders said that their nations are offering a “joint responsible and transparent response to swine flu.”

All three leaders are meeting against the backdrop of a global economic recession.  Obama pledged a unified to tackle the slumping economy.  Meanwhile, they are committed to respect the tenets of the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), to which they are signatories.

“We, the leaders of North America reaffirm the urgency and necessity of taking aggressive action on climate change,” they said.
