Last week Gov. Charlie Crist continued lurching to the right, flip-flopping on global warming, abandoning another of his so-called principles to further his personal ambition, the Miami Herald/St. Petersburg Times Tallahassee Bureau reported.
“How do Floridians know when Charlie Crist is focused on his agenda? That’s easy — anytime Charlie Crist is looking in a mirror,” said Florida Democratic Party spokesman Eric Jotkoff. “The only thing about Charlie Crist that’s been consistent over the years is that he’ll always do what’s best for Charlie Crist. On this one, it’s pretty obvious: He’s running for U.S. Senate in a Republican primary, and he doesn’t want to upset the activists in his party. So, he abandons his focus on climate change — something he used to claim was a priority — the way he’s abandoned so many of his so-called principles.”
His new stance on global warming is a far cry from Crist’s first State of the State address two years ago where about one out of every 10 words were devoted to global warming. [Naples News, May 21, 2007]
Over the past several weeks, Crist has flip-flopped on a range of issues including global warming goals, judges, health insurance reform, transparency, and the budget.
