In delivering the 2013 State of the City address on Wednesday, and putting an end to speculation, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said, he would not be running for governor in 2014.
Dyer said, while he had been encouraged by many to do so and had given careful consideration to seeking the position of governor, he believed he has a responsibility to the people of Orlando to finish the job he started.
Dyer, surrounded by his wife and two sons, added that the choice came down to whether he wanted to spend the next several months on the campaign trail or at City Hall and that the choice was an easy one – to make Orlando the best place to live work and play and the best place to be.
“There is no place that I would rather be,” he said.
