On Friday, City of Orlando and Fire Department, along with the FBI, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office undertook a large scale school shooting simulation exercise to train for similar emergency situations.
The school safety and tactical operation took place at St. James Cathedral School at 505 E. Ridgewood Street in downtown Orlando and began early this morning.
According to a statement from OPD, approximately 250 teachers, administrators, staff and safety directors from across 5 counties were present.
The training exercise led to the closing off of several surrounding streets and areas downtown Orlando, as in a real life situation.
