A jury in Palm Beach County awarded a mentally challenged Pahokee, Florida girl $1.7 million for the trauma she suffered after being raped on a school bus when she was 3-years-old.
The sexual battery charges were filed against J.C. Carter, the youth school police said assaulted the child, Palm Beach Post reported.
Although the school board never denied the girl was molested, the district never agreed to compensate the child, now 9-year-old, the paper also reported.
“I think the jury got it,” attorney Stephan Le Clainche said.
