RaShawn Powell scored a game-high 32 points to go with eight rebounds and Pedro Lalor added 13 points and six steals as Men’s Basketball (6-2) rolled past host West Orange, 66-50, for their fifth victory in six games. The Panthers jumped out to a 19-6 first quarter lead and extended the margin to 17 with a 32-15 lead at the half. Shawn Clement pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Men’s JV Basketball (3-2) got a solid defensive showing as well as strong scoring efforts from Ira Warren (21 points) and Glenn Jay (16 points) in their 47-36 victory over West Orange.

Up at Apopka High School, Women’s Weightlifting saw Samantha Cancel set a new school record for bench press with a 150 lb. lift in the 199 lb. class as DP swept the host Blue Darters (47-42) and Ocoee (60-23) to finish their regular season with a record of 7-1. Personal records were also set by Tammy Pierre, Marly Joseph, Kalie Hernandez, Daja McFadden, Alex Moise, Miranda Rossum, Asnerlie Labady, Shalldine Hyppolite as well as Samantha Cancel.

Men’s Soccer dominated the first half against host Evans but couldn’t capitalize until the 39th minute when Yasin Chentouf turned a sensational steal into a stinging goal to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The Panthers surrendered the equalizer on an Evans counter-attack in the 50th minute as well as the go-ahead goal in the 65th. The Panthers never quit, however, and in a last ditch effort, Andres Alvarez put a free kick to the halfway line in the box and junior Colin Cleven was right there to head it home with just 2.4 seconds left to earn the draw. DP (2-4-3) is undefeated in its last four matches.

Women’s Soccer saw their three-game winning streak end last night in a 6-2 loss to West Orange, their first in Metro West play this season. Shae Vevera scored both goals for the Panthers (8-6).

Tonight, from here in Honolulu, Hawaii, DP Women’s Basketball team will open up the Iolani Classic against Jinling, China at 10:00 PM EST.
