In an effort to help feed thousands of starving individuals and families over the holiday season, Bellisio Foods, the third-largest producer of frozen entrées, including Michelina’s® in the United States, delivered today 47,000 frozen meals to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida in Orlando.
In addition to Orlando, Bellisio Foods will also deliver meals to Feeding America Locations in Duluth, Minn. and Columbus, Ohio. In all, some 150,000 meals will be delivered. During the month of December, the company will hand-deliver more than 12,000 cases to individuals and families.
“These are extremely difficult economic times,” said Joel Conner, Chairman and CEO of Bellisio Foods, in a statement. “Unemployment and underemployment are rampant and Bellisio, like many other food companies in the U.S., has realized the importance of giving back. Bellisio Foods is proud to partner with Feeding America as they meet the needs of millions of individuals every day.”
