Phil Jackson working on deal to return to Lakers

As of 3pm this afternoon sources out of Los Angeles are that Phil Jackson will return to coach the Lakers.

Mike Brown was fired after a (1-4) start to the NBA season.

Reports have been that Jackson is and has been the Lakers top choice. You have to think that management had something going with the eleven time champion considering how quick they let Brown go.

Second choice for the coaching vacancy is Mike D’antoni, which makes sense considering his relationship and success with Steve Nash in Phoenix and Kobe Bryant during the Olympics.

“This is a coach Jackson’s team,” Hall of famer and former Laker Magic Johnson said.

“Mike Brown is a good coach but was the wrong choice for this team,” Johnson continued.

Jackson will have a great cast of players to coach and will probably implement the triangle offense which Bryant and Pau Gasol are used to.

Having two 7-footers in Gasol and first year All-Star Dwight Howard, Jackson will utilize both players’ strengths.

Jackson has never had the opportunity to coach a point guard like Steve Nash, so it will be interesting to see how he uses the former two-time league MVP.
