The City of Orlando invites Central Florida residents and visitors to enjoy a family day of FREE fun on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake for the City’s third annual National Public Lands Day. This weekend, Americans from coast to coast will visit their favorite public parks, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests to enjoy and learn more about these treasured places as part of National Public Lands Day.
At the City of Orlando’s National Public Lands Day celebration, visitors are invited to enjoy all that Orlando’s premier nature park has to offer including an animal farm, hiking biking, playground, swimming pool, beach tennis, sand volleyball, disc golf and the Nature Connect Trail, a ¼ mile trail of art, music and climbing that was built by local volunteers. There will also be an opportunity to volunteer from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. where participants will receive a free tree for their service.
This year marks the 19th annual National Public Lands Day, an event that brings together thousands nationwide to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education and enjoyment. Last year more than 150,000 Americans participated at sites in all 50 states.
