Daytona Beach police say, a man carrying a semi-automatic handgun, robbed the Burger King located at 825 North Nova Road, early on Saturday morning.
The suspect was waiting near the dumpsters at the back of the Burger King, police also say. When an employee opened the back door to take out the trash, that’s when he approached brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun.
The man forced the employee back inside and took an undetermined amount of cash from the registers and fled out the back door.
A K-9 tracked the suspect to the south, then east and back north, where the track was lost near Brentwood Avenue and Lee Street. The K-9 was able to locate and recover a small amount of cash along the track, police say.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s, approximately 5′ 9” – 5′ 10” and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and black cargo pants. The suspect had a light-colored scully pulled down over his face with eye holes cut out, gloves and was armed with a large black semi-automatic handgun.
Police do not yet have surveillance video or photos of this armed robbery.
