Forty people were arrested in an online prostitution sting which spanned three days, St. Cloud police say.
According to investigators, the sting was conducted from September 12-14th and was “designed as a proactive effort to deter prostitution and online solicitation of prostitution activities within St. Cloud and surrounding areas.”
Detectives contacted individuals who advertised on the website: www.backpage.com, as “adults escorts” and when individuals agreed to engage in sexual activity in exchange for money, were given a location. When the suspects showed up, police arrested them.
Of the 40 people arrested, 19 hailed from Orlando, with the other suspects from neighboring areas such as Kissimmee, Frostproof, Cocoa, Palm Bay and Lake Mary.
