A Kissimmee man who told police he was building an underground doomsday bunker has been charged with grand theft, burglary to a business, criminal mischief and tampering with evidence.
26-year-old Roberto Gonzalez-Broche was taken into custody after police say he stole an open trailer with equipment from a business, Jeff Clay and Sons on John Young Parkway on September 10.
Police received a tip that the stolen trailer was located at 1324 Manor Drive where Gonzalez-Broche lives. He gave officers permission to search the ground where police retrieved the stolen trailer, a chopped up 2007 Honda Civic that was reported stolen from Orlando and four additional trailers that were reported stolen out of Osceola County.
Gonzalez-Broche told investigators he was building an underground doomsday bunker in his yard.
Gonzales-Broche was charged with grand theft, burglary to a business, criminal mischief and tampering with evidence. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
