Newlin Puts Up $25k Reward, Helps Land Man in Custody

Tyrone D. Mosby – suspected shooter

Orange County deputies have in custody the man who they say left a 15-year-old girl fighting for her life, after she was caught in the crossfire of gunshots late last month.

19-year-old Tyrone D. Mosby was caught on Wednesday afternoon, after a warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday. Deputies had Mosby under surveillance near Ferguson and Old Winter Garden when he entered a vehicle and fled.

According to investigators, Mosby eventually crashed the vehicle he was driving in the area of Dollins and Jackson Avenue and took off on foot, running into a nearby apartment. He was eventually apprehended just before 5:30 p.m.

Investigators say, Mosby is responsible for shooting 15-year-old Danielle Sampson as she rode in the back seat of a van with her parents on July 29th in the Pine Hills area. Danielle was critically injured when a gunshot broke the rear window of the van and struck the teen in her head. She remains in a coma at the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital.

Since the shooting, deputies have worked around the clock to bring the shooter to justice.

In addition to the typical $1,000 reward that was offered for information on the shooting, famed Central Florida Attorney Dan Newlin also offered $25,000 for the apprehension and arrest of the suspected shooter.

Mosby is expected to be charged with two counts of attempted murder and booked into the Orange County Jail later today.

Mosby has a long criminal history dating back to 2006, which includes, attempted murder, robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault and the sale and delivery of cannabis.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at a press conference on Wednesday night that deputies are looking for other suspects in this shooting incident.
