An intruder was killed by a homeowner on 10th Avenue near Clarcona-Ocooe Road, deputies say.
41-year-old Luis Angel Rivera, a Hispanic man, was fatally shot on Monday around 11:00 a.m., after he came at the elderly homeowner with a knife.
Investigators say, the unnamed homeowner had spoken to Rivera earlier in the day and was either his former landlord or current landlord.
Subsequently, Rivera rang the homeowner’s doorbell, demanded money and came at the elderly man with a knife. The homeowner fired a warning shot, but when Rivera continued to advance, fired a second fatal shot. Rivera was pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.
The homeowner has not been charged. Investigators will present their findings to the State Attorney’s Office for review.
