A 30-year-old woman and two of her children were beheaded overnight in Afghanistan’s east province, police said, in what appeared to be the latest in a string of rapidly growing so-called honour killings.
Police believe that the woman’s husband divorced stormed into her house in the capital of Ghanzi province and murdered her, beside their son, 8 years and daughter, 9, the Daily Mail reported.
‘The children saw the killer take their mother’s head off, so he killed them too,’ a local policeman said. The couple’s two-year-old daughter was spared in the attack.
According to activists, there has been a sharp rise in violent attacks on women in Afghanistan over the past year.
