Henry Calls on Scott to Stop Playing Politics with Medicaid Expansion

Jason Henry – candidate for Florida House District 46

Florida House candidate Jason Henry released a media statement today calling on Florida Governor Rick Scott to alter his position on Medicaid. Henry, a Democrat, is running to represent the good people of District 46.

“With Governor Rick Scott’s decision to opt out of expanding Medicaid within the state of Florida, he has – like so many Republicans – chosen regression over progress as it pertains to caring for the poor.”

“While Gov. Scott continues to state that he knows what Floridians need, his actions speak otherwise. While millions of Floridians suffer without coverage, Scott and his Republican brethren in the Florida Legislature are celebrating new policies that keeping almost 2 million uninsured Florida residents from gaining access to healthcare.”

“This governor consistently chooses to play politics with the lives of the downtrodden. First, Mr. Scott turned down the job-creating high-speed rail project to appease Tea Party types – and now he’s choosing to pass on insuring 2 million Florida residents. It is time for him to finally put the people of Florida first … instead of Republican Party politics.”

“The 2013 Florida Legislature will play a key part in this decision as well as other healthcare decisions going forward. Given the opportunity to represent the good people of District 46, I will fight against every effort to turn away any federal dollars aimed at helping uninsured Floridians.”
