21-year-old Passenger Killed after Car Hits Tree

A Kissimmee man was killed on Sunday night when the car in which he was traveling left the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash occurred on Benaventura Boulevard near Wagon Circle around 11:00 p.m., in Osceola County.

Troopers said, 18-year-old Alfonso Castaneda, the driver of a Toyota Celica, was traveling eastbound approaching Wagon Circle, when the vehicle lost traction with the roadway and traveled off the road. The car then traveled across the grass on the south shoulder and its right rear struck a tree.

21-year-old Manuel Jesus Cordova, of Kissimmee, a passenger in the car, was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Castaneda and another passenger, Joan Manuel Cordova, 19, both of Kissimmee, sustained minor injuries.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
