Three passengers were killed and two others are in critical condition, after the van in which they were traveling overturned on Interstate 95, Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. not far from mile marker 278 near the Volusia-Flagler County Line.

57-year-old Vilbrun Bertrand, of West Palm Beach, the driver of the passenger van, told troopers he lost control of the vehicle when one of the tires separated.

Troopers said, the van overturned several times, ejecting multiple passengers.

Troopers also said, three passengers – two adult males and one adult female – died on the scene. Two other passengers were taken to Halifax Hospital in critical condition.

Nine other adult passengers were transported to four local area hospitals, with varying degrees of injuries.

The occupants of the van, who are Haitian migrant farmers, were traveling to New Jersey for work, investigators said.

The names of the passengers have not yet been released.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
