Florida’s unemployment rate made its biggest monthly decline in nearly two decades as the state’s jobless rate fell to 9.0 percent in March, according to figures released Friday by the Department of Economic Opportunity.
The March figure is 0.4 percentage points lower than February and 1.7 points lower than the 10.7 percent recorded in March 2012.
It was the largest monthly drop since October 1992.
Notwithstanding the decline, nearly 900,000 people continue to look for work in the Sunshine State.
The U.S. jobless rate for March was 8.2 percent.
