State Attorney Angela Corey’s office notified media outlets late Tuesday that an announcement on the Trayvon Martin shooting case will be coming within the next 72 hours, and though it didn’t specifically say, it was widely expected that Corey would decide this week whether or not to press charges against shooter George Zimmerman.
The neighborhood watch volunteer, meanwhile, was dropped as a client this week by his attorneys, who said he has acted against their advice and they don’t know where he is.
“As of now we are withdrawing as counsel for Mr. Zimmerman,” lawyer Craig Sonner said at a news conference Tuesday. “We’ve lost contact with him. Up to this point we’ve had contact every day. He has gone on his own. I’m not sure what he’s doing or who he’s talking to.”
Zimmerman’s attorneys confirmed too, that he is no longer in Florida.
