Eight seniors, Mia Emmerson, Amira Khatib, RaveneMoore, Darcy Klampner, Anne Saengchote, Katherine Breese, Stephanie Buckley and J’Cara Denmark played their final regular season game at Bill Spoone Stadium and went out in style as Women’sLacrosse hammered Lake Howell, 17-2, on Senior Night. Freshman Cymber Larkin scored four goals and assisted on three more and Elizabeth Hales scored three and assisted on three as the Panthers (11-2) won their eighth straight. KatherineBreese and Ravene Moore also added hat tricks plus a pair ofassists with Sarah Hamp (two goals, two assists), Jessica Clarkand Michaela Decker completing the scoring. JV Lacrosse notched their first shutout of the season, 10-0 over Lake Howell, to improve to 8-2 onthe year. Jimena Davila scored a team-high four goals with Tonie Stephen and Alena Poulin adding a pair each. Michelle Schneiter and Isabella Gigante closed out the scoring with solo goals. District Tournament play begins next Wednesday.
Two school records were broken by members of DP’s Women’sTrack team at Saturday’s Florida Relays in Gainesville. In the 4 x1600m relay, Virnaliz Trinidad, Annais Pena, Amber Johnson and Bridget Blake placed seventh with a time of 22:12.86, shattering the old mark of 22:15 set in 2010 by MK Vahle, Stephanie Onderick, DanaDemsky and Amber Johnson. In addition, Blake’s fourth place timeof 4:56.20 in the 1600m eclipsed her previous school record set last year bynearly three seconds. For Men’s Track, Senior AJ Cunningham’stime of 9:43.86 in the 3200m was his personal best.
Tomorrow’sNational Signing Day ceremony will be held at 10:30 am in the south campus commons adjacent to the Media Center. The following students will be on hand as they sign athletic scholarships to their respective schools:
