Orange County Public Schools announced three students as winners in the 48th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program.
The seniors are:
Among their chosen studies in college, Olga has selected Medicine, Cassandra is interested in Information Technology, and Amarise will study Biostatistics.
The students are among 800 outstanding Black American high school seniors nationwide who have won 2012 Achievement Scholarship awards through the National Achievement Scholarship Program. The 800 award winners will split scholarship money worth more than $2 million dollars. The program is financed by grants from 29 corporate organizations and professional associations, and by National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program, since 1964, has recognized and awarded academically-promising black students throughout the nation. The scholarship selection process begins with student participation in a preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Semifinalists and finalists are determined from test scores.
