A Brevard County deputy was shot and killed on John Rodes Boulevard on Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m., in Melbourne.
According to a spokesperson for the BCSO, the female deputy was attempting to apprehend a suspected thief when she was shot in the face. The deputy was rushed to a local area hospital, but died of her injuries.
The name of the deputy has not been released.
Two people, a man and a woman, are now in custody.
BCSO has scheduled a press conference for 3:00 p.m., to provide more details.
