Last year, the Panthers came in unheralded and underestimated before they knocked out # 10 Riverdale Baptist(Maryland), top-seeded Archbishop Spalding (Maryland) and crushed New York City power Murry Bergtraum for the championship on national television. DP has climbed back into the USA Top 25 rankings (# 24) and also rose to # 30 in the ESPN Rise national poll.
Men’s Basketball senior guard Isaac Lane has made a verbal commitment to play for Miami-Dade College! Lane has been an integral part of DP’s success over the last two seasons and averaged 15.0 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game this year, leading the Panthers to their fourth straight District Championship and their third straight Metro West title. Coach Anthony Long wrote “Isaac fits right in with the Panthers’ tradition of great guards who have gone through the program on their way to college basketball scholarships (over the last ten years) – Mario Sisinni (Coastal Carolina), Trey Hopkins (Western Carolina), Jason Rich (Florida State), Chris Warren (OleMiss), Chuck Ford (Santa Fe College), Pat Ryan (Newberry College) and Shane Larkin (University of Miami).”
