A man, believed to be suicidal, was shot by deputies on Merritt Island Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred in the 1400 block of South Belford Court around 11:00 a.m.
Deputies went to a home on Belfort Courts after receiveing reports of a man, armed with a gun, threatening suicide.
According to news reports, the man threatened deputies with the gun. That’s when deputies opened fire.
It’s not clear how many rounds were fired, but the man was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The name of the man has not been released.
