A Polk County deputy, who investigators say, sprayed a chemical agent on her boyfriend and his mother, was arrested on Monday night.
26-year-old Brittney Taylor of Lakeland is accused of spraying her boyfriend, 25-year-old Jimmie L. Borders, and his mother, Francis Branum, 41, with a chemical agent, following an altercation.
Taylor told deputies she sprayed the chemical agent in self-defense after Branum grabbed her by the arm. But a witness told deputies it was Taylor who initiated the physical altercation at the the home on Park Street, where Borders and Branum live.
Borders and Branum were not injured in the spray attack.
Taylor is a detention deputy assigned to the Central County Jail. She has been suspended pending termination proceedings.
Taylor was booked into the Polk County Jail on Monday night. She has been charged with domestic violence and simple battery.
