Former congressman and current congressional candidate Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) proudly accepts the title of “Majority Maker,” announced today by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The “D-Trip” bestowed this high honor on only three congressional candidates nationwide. With this title comes the Democratic National Party’s highest level of support for a congressional candidate.
“I am honored to receive the DCCC’s imprimatur and approbation. I am thrilled that the DCCC recognizes the strength of our ‘People Power’ campaign. Add to that the support and backing that comes with being a Majority Maker, and the path to victory in November appears to be crystal clear,” said Grayson.
The DCCC is the official and sole campaign arm of the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives. The DCCC’s mission is to support strong Democratic candidates for Congress, and help ensure victory in their respective races. Candidates from all over America compete for the DCCC’s advocacy and aid. The DCCC’s endorsement brings support in communications, fieldwork, new media, fundraising, polling and campaign events. The DCCC also spent more than $80 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle, supporting its chosen candidates, with even more budgeted for this year.
Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), the Chairman of the DCCC, met with reporters in Washington, DC this morning to make the announcement.
Grayson is running for a new U.S. House of Representatives district that is expected to be created in Orlando. Grayson is the only Democratic candidate for that seat.
