Riva Backs Down, Surrenders Church

Four days after announcing a lawsuit had been filed challenging the installation of Pastor Paula White as the new leader of New Destiny Christian Center, Pastor Riva Tims has withdrawn the suit. Pastor Riva said that she had released her rights to take legal action, in an agreement signed in 2009.

“After careful review of my amended MSA (2009); my attorney Robert Gibson discovered on December 30, 2011 that I released my rights to file a complaint against NDCC. Therefore by the advice of Mr. Gibson I withdrew the suit,” Pastor Riva wrote on her Facebook page.

Pastor Riva added: “My heart’s desire is that God perfects all that concerns us. I know as the Mother of Zoelle, Zachery, Zahria and Zion as well as the spiritual Mother to many that were birthed at New Destiny that I had a spiritual obligation to let my voice be heard. And our voices have been heard nationally. The righteousness we have been taught will continue to sustain us in this process. We are assured that truth will prevail – God is in Control!”

Since the sudden death of Pastor Zachery Tims in August 2011, a controversy has raged over who should replace the charismatic leader at NDCC which he cofounded with Pastor Riva in 1996.

At a press conference in late December, Pastor Riva announced she was challenging the installation of Pastor Paula White and expressed her disastisfaction with the manner in which NDCC’s board had gone about selecting a successor.  Gibson said, the NDCC congregation should have been selecting the successor to Pastor Zachery Tims, and not the board.

Now, all that is over.

Pastor White was formally introduced to the NDCC congregation at New Year’s Eve services.

  1. I’m not sure what happened at this church but im glad she dropped the lawsuit. God is in control and there is no need to run the body of Christ throught the court system. Sometimes God removes us from situations we wanna stay in because we feel like we got to fight those battles. Pasto Timms if you are ever needed as a mother now is the time your kids need you. Contine to pray and cover your family and if it’s ment to be Gof will sustain your ministry an elevate you to higher heights.
