Woman Crashes Car into Home After Trying to Avoid Cat

An Orlando woman, trying to avoid a cat in the road, ended up driving her vehicle into the garage of a home on Surrey Ridge Road in Orange County.

The crash occurred just after 7:00 p.m. on Monday night.

The driver, 36-year-old Michelle Lee Goebel told troopers she was heading eastbound on Surrey Ridge Road, when a cat darted across the roadway, causing her to lose control of her 2004 Nissan Quest. Goebel said she tried to avoid the cat, but collided with the concrete curb, traveling across the roadway towards a house, troopers said.

Geobel’s vehicle traveled onto the property of 9939 Surrey Ridge Road and collided with a mailbox. But it didn’t end there. She continued onto the property, colliding with the garage.

Troopers said, Goebel’s vehicle came to rest after it collided with a Saturn Ion parked inside the garage, which was pushed into the wall.

Goebel sustained no injuries as a result of the crash.

Troopers cited Goebel for careless driving.
