Three Points Little “Hollywood Star” Recognized

Three Points Elementary School student Laila Harris made her acting debut in the movie, Dolphin Tale, earlier this fall.

Laila Harris

Laila is a second-grade student who was chosen for the part of Margaret in the true story of Winter. Winter is a dolphin rescued off the Clearwater coast whose tail was destroyed by a crab trap. A doctor then designs a prosthetic tail for her and it works.

Laila is one of Orange County Public Schools’ little inspirations because she lives with a prosthetic leg and absolutely nothing holds her back from success. She was selected for her part in the movie through the Shiners’ Hospital. Laila has a prosthetic leg because she was born with only one leg.

Three Points principal Jessica Abrew says, “Laila is a bright and charismatic second-grader and she’s our own little “Hollywood star.”

The movie can still be seen in local theatres and will be available on DVD December 20, 2011.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 5:30 p.m., during a regularly-scheduled school board meeting the Orange County School Board will recognize Laila for her inspiration in school.
