Two months after saying it would build a solar-energy farm in Gadsden County, a Melbourne-based firm announced Wednesday that it also has reached agreement for a similar project in Hardee County.
National Solar Power said it plans to build 10 200-acre solar farms in Hardee County, at a cost of $70 million each.
The company has entered into a development agreement with Hardee County and is negotiating to line up project financing. It said in a news release it plans to sell electricity from the 200-megawatt farm to Progress Energy Florida and is having discussions with other potential customers.
