A man killed on I-95 in a single vehicle car crash in Volusia County on Thursday, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. near LPGA Boulevard.
Troopers said, Jeffrey Hopfensperger, 56, of St. Augustine was traveling northbound when suddenly he veered to the right, crossed all northbound lanes and began traveling on the east shoulder of I-95.
Hopfensperger traveled about 100 feet, before he slammed into the east overpass embankment wall, troopers said. He was pronounced dead on the spot by the medical examiner.
So Sorry to hear about Jeff. I worked with him and his wife in the early 80’s at VAW Aluminum in St. Augustine. He was a great husband, father and individual. It is a tragic loss for everyone.
