Abraham Oliver -- charged with first degree murder

A man who killed his girlfriend by pouring gasoline over her and setting her ablaze, has been charged with first degree murder, Orlando police said.

Abraham Oliver, 46, who was arrested early on Monday morning, called police to tell them he had poured gasoline over his girlfriend, 42-year-old Karen Peterson, and set her on fire.

Police went to the couples house on 4076 Gay Nell Court and attempted to use their fire extinguishers to put the fire out, but were overcome with smoke.

The Orlando Fire Department also responded to the fire and was able to put out the blaze, but it was too late for Peterson.

That woman is my mother and im her ONLY child.Im still in awe at the fact that he could do something like this to this woman who was trying to assist him .She was a very caring and loving woman who cause no harm to any one. She was the best mother anyone could ask for. She ALWAYS put God first then me her daughter. She was murdered when I was 15 . I am now 18 getting ready to graduate on the day I was born. It hurts to know she wont be here physically to witness me walk across the stage. He got half of what he deserves and will rot in hell for his disgusting action and for the pain and turmoil he has cause in many peoples lives.
