FHP: Speeding Orlando Driver Takes Trooper On Chase

Choya Parks

An Orlando woman was arrested on Friday morning, after fleeing a trooper who was attempting to stop her for driving over the speed limit.

29-year-old Choya Jovan Parks, was driving 56 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on Rio Grande near Gore Avenue, when a trooper tried to stop her just before 7:00 a.m.   That’s when Parks took off in the 2008 Chryslet Sebring she was driving, even as Trooper Evans activated his emergency lights and siren, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The pursuit lasted for about five minutes and ended on Mable Butler Avenue and Wilts Circle, when a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T) was performed.

FHP said, as the P.I.T maneuver was being performed, Parks’ vehicle struck a tree, spun around and ended up striking the driver side door of the trooper’s vehicle.

Parks suffered minor injuries and was transported to Florida Hospital South. Trooper Evans also suffered minor injuries, but was not transported to hospital.

Parks was arrested and booked into the Orlando County Jail. She has been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and speeding.
