FHP: Woman Dies After Vehicle Overturns

A St. Cloud woman was killed in Osceola County, after she lost control of her vehicle early on Sunday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Valerie Ann Porter, 36, died on the spot near Lake Tohopekaligia, when her vehicle stuck overturned, then struck a utility pole.

The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m.

Troopers say, Porter was traveling westbound in the through lance of Kissimee Park Road, over the posted speed limit, when for unknown reasons she drove off the paved roadway and onto the north shoulder. She overcorrected, traveled across to the south shoulder and that’s when the 2002 GMC Savanna overturned. She was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.

Porter, who was ejected onto the south shoulder, was pinned underneath the vehicle. She died on the scene.

Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
