Orlando Among Worst Cities for Young People

With a jobless rate of close to 24 percent among its youth population, Orlando has the unenviable distinction of being in the top 25 worst cities for young people, according to data released by thedailybeast.com. Combing through U.S. Census statistics to identify those cities which had the greatest positive change on unemployment, marriage and education, between 2008 and 2010, The Daily Beast compiled a list of the worst cities for young people.

Average consumer debt, although not broken down by age, was also given some weight in determining the cities.

Two other cities in Florida made the list– Jacksonville, with a current unemployment rate of 8.3 percent for persons in the age group 20-24 years and Tampa with a 12.5 percent jobless rate amoung youngs.

Other U.S. cities on the list include: Seattle, Washington; Virginia Beach, Virgina; Dayton, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Houston, Texas.
