Public Hearing on Orlando Magic Sports, Entertainment Complex

Even before a feasibility study gets underway, members of the public will have an opportunity to weigh-in on the proposed $100 million Orlando Magic Sports and Entertainment Complex.

The Orlando Magic will present an agreement for undertaking the necessary feasibility studies for the proposed project at the Orlando City Council meeting on September 19. This meeting is intended to be a public hearing, providing the opportunity for public testimony on the proposed project.

The Orlando Magic are committing between $2 to $3 million to undertake feasibility studies for the area, north of the new Amway Center. At the end of the feasibility study, which could take up to one year, the Orlando Magic will present to the City Council for consideration a plan that outlines details, terms and provisions for the proposed corporate relocation and mixed-use project.

According to a fact sheet by the City, “This privately-funded project represents a $100 million dollar investment by the Magic that would create jobs, provide dining, hotel, and entertainment options to residents and visitors and continue the revitalization of Downtown Orlando and the Parramore neighborhood.”

The proposed site under consideration is the 100 block of South Hughey Avenue which is bordered by Church Street to the south, Hughey Avenue to the east, Division to the west and Central Boulevard to the north.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate in the public hearing on September 19, at City Hall Downtown Orlando, at 2:00 p.m.
