Although Democrats have been vociferous in condemning Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget blueprint which aims to eliminate or end Medicare as we know it, they have been mute on the proposed $750 billion cuts to Medicaid which Republicans would like to slash over the next decade.
Why?
Some observers believe that because Medicaid is a program for low-income children and seniors in long-term care, it doesn’t have the same political punch as Medicare. Currently there are over 50 million people covered by Medicaid.
