Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs will deliver the 2011 State of the County Address tomorrow, Friday, June 3, at 9:00 a.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton Orlando Downtown.
Jacobs, who took office in early January, committed to re-aligning Orange County government in keeping with the goals, values and priorities of the citizens of county within the first 100 days. She has met with more than 4,000 County employees to reinforce core values of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
Early in her administration, Jacobs also established the Office of Public Engagement, a Chief Accountability Officer and put in place an independent Ombudsman to investigate government waste and wrongdoing.
Jacobs has held a series of economic and jobs summits aimed at developing a strategic plan to help businesses create new high-wage jobs, although the outcomes in terms of job creation are unclear.
Within the first 100 days, Jacobs also brought a long-awaited red-light camera program online at ten of the County’s most dangerous intersections. Jacobs also established a “one-stop-shop” permitting process to help Orange County citizens navigate the permitting process.
