Volunteers Needed to Help Cancer Patients on “Road to Recovery”

The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program is having trouble staying on course in the Orlando-Metro area. This vital patient service program is in need of volunteers who are willing to drive cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments.

Currently, in the Orlando-Metro area, there are not enough volunteers available to meet the needs of patients requesting transportation to their necessary treatment. Dozens more are needed to ensure that all patients are getting the care that they desperately need to get back on the “Road to Recovery.”

A successful Road to Recovery Program can be a tremendous asset to the community.  Volunteers provide an essential and necessary service.  Even the greatest medical advance is useless if the patient cannot get to treatment.

Requirements for volunteering include having a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance and a vehicle that is in good working condition.
