On Wednesday, May 18, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will host a half-day forum titled: “Orlando: Choosing the Future after the Great Recession.”
The purpose of the event is to explore strategies the City and greater Central Florida region are currently pursuing to strengthen its community identity and make its economy more inclusive, competitive, diverse, and less vulnerable to future downturns. The discussion will also focus on future strategies to strengthen the local economy.
To set the broader context for the forum discussion, Greg Ip, U.S. Economics Editor for The Economist, will give a keynote address. Two panel discussions with audience exchanges will follow Mr. Ip’s presentation.
The FREE event is being put on in collaboration with the Lou Frey Institute of Politics and Government at the University of Central Florida, the Reubin O’D. Askew Institute on Politics and Society at the University of Florida, the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation, Orlando Health and the Florida League of Cities.
